Press Release: Drinklink Seeking New Chair for Their Charity Operations

March 18th, 2024

Category: Press

Drinklink, a Scottish charity dedicated to aiding those affected by someone else’s drinking, is actively looking to appoint a new chair for their organization. The charity’s primary mission is to connect people with information, local support groups, and peers who can provide assistance.

The new chair’s responsibilities will include helping to develop a partner portal and online collaboration tool for the alcohol support network in Scotland. Additionally, they will assist in implementing an employability programme designed to build life skills and enhance employability for those impacted by someone else’s drinking.

The position is voluntary and requires a commitment of approximately 7 hours per month. The role can be executed remotely.

Stacey Summers, the charity’s founder and current chair, expressed the organization’s need for change. “12 years ago, we signed the Drinklink constitution with the intention to rotate the Chair position every 5 years to bring new perspectives and keep momentum. The time has never felt right, until now.’

Applicants with lived experience or a working knowledge of the alcohol support sector in Scotland will be given preference.

Stacey continued to share the personal impact of her role. “The experience of being Chair at Drinklink was life-changing for me. I have had the unique opportunity to speak first hand with those fighting the addiction, to sit surrounded by families trusting me with their stories, heartaches and in their celebrations, and hopefully to help a few people along the way.”

The new Chair will be supported by the current board members. The current Chair will stay in post until the post has been filled.
